Before we begin walking towards Kailash, we visit Pashupatinath.
Let me share why.
Consciousness longs for peace, for contentment, for eternity, for love.
Kailash represents all of this.
The mountain we see outside is the externalization of an internal destination.
The Kailash within is what we are actually walking towards.
The physical mountain is the symbol and manifestation of something far deeper.
This is the same destination every consciousness is moving towards, whether they know it or not.
A seeker is one who has begun to recognize this consciously.
The spiritual journey is fundamentally an inner journey. The movement towards the source of life, the source of all love, all joy, all contentment, eternity itself. This source is within.
But to hasten this inner journey, we have to align our efforts from every direction.
Whatever we do outside must support the inner journey.
That is the science of a pilgrimage.
The outer walking towards Kailash mirrors and accelerates the inner walking towards the source.
Now consider the vehicle that makes this journey possible.
The physical body houses consciousness.
The body is the means by which you will undertake this sacred journey.
If the body gives up before the destination is reached, both the inner and the outer journey remain incomplete.
The body itself is a product of evolution. It comes from the animal kingdom.
It is Pashu, the animal nature.
The reproductive instincts, the survival instincts, the fear, the hunger, all of these are inherited from the chimpanzee.
If a seeker wants to make this sacred journey, the animal vehicle must be protected, prepared, and aligned.
This is why every pilgrim, before beginning the journey towards Kailash, visits the Pashupatinath temple in Nepal.
Pashupatinath means the "Lord of the Animals."
Shiva as the protector of every living creature, including the animal body that carries the seeker.
We bow before him. We seek his blessings. We ask for his protection over the journey.
We ask that the vehicle holds together long enough for consciousness to reach its real home.
This is the ritual that begins Kailash with Yog Prachar.
Every step of this Yatra is engineered. Nothing is accidental.
O Pashupati... protect us and make us capable of reaching your abode.
